Since the seventeenth century, a great deal has been written about the prehistoric wonders of the world. A century and a half later of excavation and comparative research later, however, has told us much about these people who could set up a single standing stone sixty-five feet in height, place a capstone of a hundred tons in position, and build monuments which have lasted for four thousand years and more.
